Professional growth plan
Goal #1: Use a variety of instructional strategies to allow all students to find success in what I am teaching.
- Rationale: It is important to remember that there are three types of learners; audio, visual, and kinaesthetic and that each type of learner should find success in grasping concepts you teach.
- Strategy: I will aim to always include learning activities for Kinaesthetic, Audio, and Visual Learners in each lesson I teach to my Grade 4’s.
- Evidence of Success: Checking after creating each lesson that I have included activities that each an audio, visual and kinaesthetic learner can excel from.
Goal #2: Monitor students behaviour and is aware of student behaviour at all times.
- Rationale: It is important to always be the one in control of your classroom so that you can create a positive learning atmosphere that everyone can find success in.
- Strategy: Try incorporating the many Classroom Management techniques we have discussed and learnt in Curriculum and Instruction class. Also think about Classroom Management in Bumps like discussed in Curriculum and Instruction readings and “Teacher as Performer” workshop.
Bump 2: Squaring Off
Bump 3: Offering Choices
Bump 4: Implied Choice
Bump 5: The Informal Chat
- Evidence of Success: Feedback from my T.A./Supervisor on classroom management and personal reflection on how each day goes when I am teaching.
Goal #3: Focus on voice pitch and inflection and it's effect on classroom management.
- Rationale: The way one uses their voice can have a huge impact on the way your students interpret your instruction.
- Strategy: Try to always be aware of my voice and how I am using it and changing it accordingly when giving instruction, helping a students, enforcing classroom management and having some fun with students.
- Evidence of Success: Reflecting on lesson and how I used my voice and feedback from TA.
