CHARACTERISTICS/BEHAVIOURS
Have an above average cognitive abilities that can include intellectual achievement, high motivation and interest, verbal proficiency, problem solving abilities, and logical thinking. Usually beyond maturity level of other peers which can lead to difficulty making friends. They also tend to be perfectionists leading to heightened emotions and sensitivities in the subject areas they excel at. |
TEACHING STRATEGIES
- Use open ended projects and instruction to allow complexity and student to expand on their understanding in their own way. - Encourage student to set goals for themselves and give them resources to self-assess their journey to reaching their goals. Also give recognition to student when goals have been met. - Avoid having student tutor other students and rather create opportunities for them to spend with their peers working on the same projects and their intellect being used as benefit to everyone. - Use flexible pacing where they can finish some outcomes quicker than their peers and eliminate unnecessary activities. |
